Mr. Randall has spent over 25 years in the networking industry as an entrepreneur, senior executive and venture capitalist. He is currently an Executive Partner at private equity firm Siris Capital, prior to that was a founding partner at Vesbridge Partners, and a general partner at St. Paul Venture Capital, where he led the mobile investment practice. His venture investments have included YMAX (magicJackVocaltec NASDAQ: CALL), Dynamicsoft (sold to Cisco Systems), Bitfone (sold to Hewlett-Packard Company), Snowshore (sold to Broktrout/Cantata), FusionOne (sold to Synchronoss), ProQuent Systems (sold to Bytemobile/Citrix) and Visage Mobile.
Previously, Mr. Randall was CMO of Lucent Technologies, and had been vice president of Marketing at Ascend Communications, which was acquired by Lucent ($24B in 1999). Before that, Mr. Randall was vice president of Worldwide Marketing at Stratus Computer and general manager of its SS7 business, which was acquired by Ascend ($833M in 1998). Mr. Randall was vice president of Strategic Market Development at Madge Networks, as an ex-pat in Paris, following its 1996 acquisition of Teleos Communications ($165M). Mr. Randall had co-founded Teleos in 1987 and served many roles includingEVP and CTO, vice president of Marketing and Business Development and vice president of WAN Access Technology.
Mr. Randall began his career at AT&T Bell Labs and holds several U.S. patents. Mr. Randall earned a BEE with Highest Honors from Georgia Institute of Technology and an MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley. Mr. Randall is a director of TNS and Airvana, and member of the Board of Overseers at PBS TV producer/broadcaster WGBH. He was previously a member of the Board of Directors of Tekelec, Bytemobile, Bitfone, Snowshore, Teltier Technologies, ProQuent, FusionOne, Dynamicsoft, andVisageMobile.
